“Minnesota Acoustic Music Master,” (Star Tribune) and Emmy Award-winning acoustic troubadour, Michael Monroe, performs an evening of warm-hearted original music and selection of “folk legend acoustic favorites” by James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, Carole King as well as Peter, Paul and Mary.

From vinyl to digital, Monroe is celebrating over 50 years performing acoustic music for his profession. He plays hand-crafted Seaton guitars, which are “works of art,” made of 200 year-old reclaimed wood from the bottom of Lake Superior and made on the Gunflint Trail.  His rich vocals and crystal/bamboo flutes showcase his signature mellifluous sound. Monroe has always embraced “…technology as an instrument…” (Jon Bream Star Tribune) and though vinyl has become trendy again, digital technology has been his music medium of choice. He was a ‘looper’ in 1990, long before it became mainstream and he could be considered the one of the ‘grandfathers’ of  LIVE looping!

Michael Monroe returned to the Twin Cities following his 28 years on the North Shore of Lake Superior and he presented Log Cabin Concerts in his cabin for the past 17 years which were featured on KSTP’s Jason Davis’ On The Road and in Lake Superior and Cabin Life Magazines as well as the Star Tribune. Monroe’s award winning instrumental soundtracks have been featured on PBS/CBC, Toronto Enviro/New York Indie Film Fests in the documentary, “Chased By The Light” presenting Jim Brandenburg’s life and stunning photography.
