Sketches In Time
Sketches In Time is a collection of tunes that came about during the ‘damn panic.’ I wrote many of them based on 2 grants I received from the MN State Arts Board. I agreed to compose songs answering the question, “When is it time?,” and you can guess which ones! Secondly, I’d agreed to write songs based on ideas sent to me by my audiences to me with their ideas or “song sketches.” I determined it was a great way to keep in touch with fans when we couldn’t be ‘in person.’ Some wrote whole songs for me, other suggestions were similar to what I’d already written, & as you might imagine, Deb also gave me an idea, ha! This album is about leaving North Shore life in cabins-and all it entailed. So, I took the liberty of creating from a few other sources also: Susan’s Farewell is from Susan Miller’s limerick was an ode to our leaving…When Is It Time For Me was written for SUPERFAN Mary Jindra. Today Is Mine was written about our ‘great lake’ for Jan Strathy (R.I.P.) and Time To Move On shares our loves about living ‘up nort’ for 28 years. Bristlecone Pine (Hugh Prestwood) was sung Michael Johnson (R.I.P.) for 5 years for New Year’s Eve during our Log Cabin Concerts. Thank you all for coming and for listening…Michael & Deb 2023

*Please note: BMI Licensing has my new album but has not been able to update all the tunes due to their volume levels so that you can listen to the music prior to purchasing. We will be able to make it available as soon as that happens…or perhaps release the 7 songs they been able to confirm as licensed. Stay tuned. Our digital world is ever expanding and as easy as that may be for others to stream…the funds artists receive needs to change…
